ONLY Girls Day

Olivia and I got to get away just the two of us and spend the day together to celebrate the ending of summer. This was our first time to do this and I have been waiting for this day for a long time. As a mother, when you have a little girl you just dream about all the girly stuff you will one day be able to do with them.

I told her that we were going to get our nails painted and the rest was completely up to her. So we started off getting our nails and toenails painted, we then went to see Monsters University for the 5th! time and then we headed to Target to get her lunch box for the upcoming school year.

We had the best time, just the two of us. We missed our boys but sure did enjoy the girly time we had.

No surprise that she picks blue for her toenails....then she picked green for her finger nails to be like Mike Wazowski. What a little trend setter.

This is how the day ended. The girls day pooped her out.

Never Ending Fun

Backyard fun with my favorite two little people. Couldn't think of a better way to spend a summer night.

We ventured over to Geyser Falls one Saturday morning probably against our better judgement. It was hot and there were lots of people but the kids had a fantastic time.

We've also been playing some Candy Land.
This girl ROCKED it.

Ford couldn't participate in the family game night so we decided to have a little fun with him afterwards. I'm not sure if it was squash the baby brother or tickle him to death...either way he LOVED every minute.

Daddy/Daughter Date Night

We are still marking things off our summer bucket list and this one is probably one of Olivia's all time favorites if not her number 1. She had her daddy all to herself and they went and did whatever this little girl could dream up. So, of course, they went to get BLUE ice cream for supper and then went to see her favorite movie, Monsters University. She even picked out her own clothes for her hot day...hence the rain coat and umbrella when there wasn't a cloud in the sky.
Her daddy thought she was beautiful either way and they had the BEST time.
I am sure that beaming smile from ear to ear never left her face.

What's Been Happenin'

Not a lot has been happenin' around our household lately. We are sad to see that over half of our summer has come and gone.

We had a "slumber party" the other night in our bedroom. We popped popcorn and we all watched a movie in our bed then the little brother went to his bed while the big sister got to continue with the party and sleep with us me in our bed (daddy opted for the couch on this night). She thought it was such a treat to sleep in our bed. I really thought the chatter box was never going to be quiet long enough to fall asleep but she finally did around 10 o'clock.

We have also been enjoying some really late mornings. When things don't start rolling around our house until 8:30 or 9:00 that is a real treat for the mommy and daddy.
These are two peas in a pod.

We have been trying our hand at some finger painting. Other than being slightly unproportional and our lobster being cross eyed, I would say it looks pretty good. Just so you know, that's Nemo and Tinkerbell at the bottom (representing the fish in our actual fish tank). :)

We of course, have been to the all time favorite by both of them, the park. Never gets old and we are so fortunate so have such a great park literally around the corner.

This little guy is finally starting to pull up. He has been to the orthopedic and visits the physical therapist once a week to motivate him towards walking. He will do it on his own time. Until then, we will wait very patiently.

Have y'all heard that boys undies is the new girls fashion?
Yep, at least that's the case in our household and I don't have the heart to tell her any different.

These two are real troopers. Mommy and daddy got a wild hair to train for a triathlon so they have been tagging along for some of the bike rides. I know it doesn't look like it but they both have a great time.

Fourth of July has come and gone as well. The holiday was very low key this year with not a lot planned. Olivia went to the beach with Gigi and Papa while we held down the fort. We did get out and run the Watermelon Classic that morning where Hays pushed Ford the whole time and I actually placed fourth in my age group by running it in 25:17.
He's a superstar.

He either pulls up onto his feet or gets up on all fours.
Whatever it takes, buddy.

Trying out the culinary skills with a pizza. Pretty tasty if I do say so myself.

Playing play dough with all of our "bear" friends.

Somebody loves getting some smooches from his furry sister.
Happy summer happenin's!

The Zoo

Every couple of months we get the itch to visit the zoo. Everyone (especially Olivia) loves going to see all the animals and it is just icing on the cake now that the zoo has a splash park we can enjoy at the end of our visit.

Busy Little Bees

We have been some busy little bees lately checking items on our summer bucket list. We have been home the last week with no camps or VBS so we have had fun filled days.

Swim lessons finally came to end. We took for a solid month for 4 days a week. It was NOT our little fishy's favorite activity. To say she was excited they were over would be a far understatement. She did well and even learned what to do if she ever fell in accidentally. I'd say it was well worth the money. Maybe she will enjoy it a bit more next summer.

We have begged her to play humpty dumpty (or jump off the side to us) in our neighborhood pool and she refuses every time. She would rather play with her Nemo and Crush than pretend to fall in.

We ventured to the movies to see Monsters University with both kids.
This was the first time Olivia and Ford have even been to the movies. It was a BIG hit with our big sister.

Not so much for the little brother.
He made it through the previews (which I'm pretty sure lasted for a solid hour) and then crawled around in the Exit hallway for the rest of the movie.

If the little guy wakes up early enough he gets the pleasure of going running with the mommy. He's a great running partner. Doesn't make a peep the entire time. We just jam to our music, watch the sun rise and get in some much needed exercise.

If he's cranky in the afternoons he gets the pleasure of riding with the daddy. If he's got juice, he doesn't make one peep. Pretty good exercise partner to say the least.

The little brother LOVES loud noises. Anytime there is a loud truck, motorcycle or anything big anywhere within seeing and hearing distance you better bet he's going to do everything within his ability to find it.
All boy.

The big sister has been trying out her culinary skills lately. We have made homemade ice cream, homemade popsicles, cupcakes and cookies within the last 3 days.

Decorating the cupcakes we were supposed to take to the firemen when we toured the fire station but we accidentally ate them all (don't worry we made them cookies instead). Notice she had to have blue icing. Oh, and our vanilla homemade ice cream was blue as well. Surprise, surprise.

They were just too tempting.

Touring the fire station.
This little guy soaked in every minute. He loved the big truck, the loud sirens, the steering wheel, jabbering away to the firemen....sissy, on the other hand, hid in the stroller, would NOT take a picture and barely said a word.

She, on the other hand, LOVES the library. I'm convinced we could go there every day of the week and she would be fine with it. We check out a minimum of 15 books every time we make a visit.
She was so proud that she found a book about Minnie and Mickey Mouse.

Today was our Jammie/play day/get the house as messy as we can day. Pretty sure we were successful at every one of those tasks.

Out of all the fun things we have done it doesn't really surprise me that this is the day that Ford enjoys the most. He knows how to relax with the best of them.

We always end these summer (well, most) days with a good story time. Even Ford got to join in on the bedtime reading with Daddy and Sissy.

Snuggled up to her favorite.
Love.Love.Love. being busy little bees.

Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to Hays.
Olivia and Ford are so fortunate to have such a good daddy. My heart sings songs of praises when I see him caring for them and loving them so tenderly. Olivia and Ford's relationship with Hays is truly more precious than gold.

Hays got treated like a King all weekend. He was off of diaper duty, bath duty, night duty, he went fishing and to a movie, had his favorite breakfast in bed, pizza for lunch and one of his tops favs for dessert and was given a much deserved break. We love him!

Someone wanted to join his breakfast in bed.

Of course, we had Nemo on his cake. Props to Olivia.

This girl ADORES her daddy.

And this one thinks he's pretty great, too.

Happy Pops Day to my daddy! He loves us and our little munchkins unconditionally and gives so much more on top of that. We love you!

Happy Papa Day! Your guidance is truly appreciated and we love you!
