Our New Adventure

Well, well, well...some friends have nicknamed us the Griswalds and I guess that's pretty appropriate these days. Y'all know Hays and I LOVE to camp and had been to many places before the two of us became four. We tent camped with Olivia a couple of times but with small children the tent just wasn't cutting it....so, we purchased a pop up camper! It's almost like a tent with a fridge, microwave, VERRRY small toilet and shower and beds. I think Hays thought I was crazy when I first brought up the idea. He has definitely come around especially after spending a week in it. We'll get back to the tent one day but for now this is our home on wheels and our connection to the outdoors.

We decided at the last minute to spend our week long vacation to Saint Louis in it instead of staying at our prebooked resort. Yes, we saved some cash. No, it wasn't the smartest decision we have ever made. Do you see any resemblance between us and the Griswalds? Listen, you have to tote A LOT of stuff with two kids!

See...not so bad, right? The beds are what pops out at each end.

The "kitchen". It does come with a gas stove, VERY small oven, microwave, fridge and VERY small sink. All the luxuries of home while camping. You get the best of both worlds.

Behind the curtain is a king size bed which is the same on both ends of the camper. Very cozy.

And...the bathroom. You can sit on the toilet while                                   The lovely "dining room".
 taking a shower. :)

This is what Big Boy looks like when taking a bath while camping. Poor baby in a tiny sink....he didn't seem to mind too terribly much.

Poor baby girl after her cold shower. Took us a while to figure everything out, including how the hot water works.

All the lovely toys/animals that Olivia had to sleep with. Now do you see why we had to have a turtle top too???

Ford makes for a happy little camper....
We really had a great time. I think I have persuaded Hays that it really was a smart purchase and a much needed one at that. Seven days might be a tad too long in a pop up camper but it will be perfect for long weekend trips. And, who knows where this little homestead on wheels will take us in the future. Hopefully, Olivia and Ford will look back on some great memories made in this venture.

Post on Saint Louis is coming up......

Memphis Fun

Before we ventured on our vacation last week, we were able to go spend a few days in Memphis visiting with my family. It was long overdo seeing that we had not been there all summer. I guess were too busy to take many pictures so I only have a few. Of course, I wish we lived closer and I know Olivia does too. Everyday on our vacation Olivia would ask to go see her Nano.:( I guess next summer we will just spend a week at Nano's house instead of spending a bunch of money on an actual vacation.

Olivia and Nano on the carousel. Can you tell she gets spoiled rotten while she's there??

Dalton wasn't as fond of the carousel.

What's a trip to Nano's house without some nakey nakey time in the sprinkler?

Dalton opted for the hose.
Can't wait for our next trip...

Olivia's Treat

We all know how much Olivia loves her cousin, Wil. Well, a couple of weeks ago he got to spend the night with us a couple of nights and then we went to the beach with him. Olivia got LOTS of extra time with her Wil. To say she was beside herself would be an extreme understatement.

One morning after the sleepy heads got up. Wil was practically running circles around Miss Cranky Pants while she was still trying to wake up. They are extreme opposites when it comes to waking up in the morning. You can tell Wil is the odd man out at our house in the mornings.:)

Doing what they do best, being busy little bees!

Of course, we had to work in some splash time!

And jumping in the bouncy house (the parentals love a good bouncy house, way to burn that energy before bed time). ----I didn't say that.:)

There was a clown at the front of the beach condo the day we were leaving that was making balloons. She made Olivia a balloon baby doll with a balloon bottle. How cute is that? Olivia LOVED it. Unfortunately, the baby didn't last long. Great idea for a future birthday party. Hmmmmm

6 Months

Ford is a half year old! I just cannot believe it. Before I know it we will be planning his first birthday party. This little boy has grown by leaps and bounds. We went to the doctor this morning (he STILL has an ear infection) and he weighs 17 lbs 9oz (50%) and 27 5/8" long (80%). Besides being sick for the last month he has changed a good bit. He has gotten 3! teeth and eats baby food once a day. His favorite seems to be oatmeal and either apples or pears. He nurses every 3 hours during the day and will wake up once at night to nurse then go back to bed. He goes to bed around 7ish every night and usually wakes up around 7ish the next morning (just a cooing). He has found his feet and seem to be very amused by them. His feet are by far his favorite toy but he does love his rattle, teething rings, Sophie, the giraffe and Olivia's hair.:) He also LOVES bath time, to be outside, the fish tank, the swing, activity gym, his ninny and lovies, and the be rocked before bed time. He also adores his sissy and will follow every move she makes. He is such a delight and we look forward to the next 6 months, just not so quickly!

Visit with Gran

Gran and Ford
Ford is named after Gran's late husband, Bedford who went by Bet. I know Gran feels honored to have a youngster named after the one person she loved most. This picture will always be so special.

Ford the Last Month

I am sure I have said this before but I not only keep this blog up for my friends and family to keep up with our boring lives but also for myself. I want to be able to look back and remember as much as possible about raising these two that have been gifted to me and so they can look back on memories from their childhood. So sometimes the posts are pretty boring like this one but I want to include it for Ford one day is his blog book that I make once a year. So pardon all the cuteness in these pictures.:)

Someone has found a new "toy". Sometimes if he's cranky I just lay him on his back and make sure he has a foot to gnaw on and he's all better.:)

Not so sure about the whole glow worm thing...

This is my view most afternoons after nap time. Love those chunky thighs.

Can you ever get enough of a grinning baby with no teeth?

This is one happy boy.
